Get Ready!

Hello everyone.  I'm trying to think of a nickname for my followers.  Please submit suggestions in the comments.  I've added a little gadget at the bottom of the page that will allow you to subscribe to my blog.  This will notify you in a daily e-mail if I have new content.  If there's no new post, you won't get e-mailed.  Please subscribe!

So, I had 4 comments on my last post, twice as much as any previous post!  Progress!  I'm very excited.  I had a couple questions posted by Mr. Esquire so let's get to those first.

I started recording Homeland when it first started but it happened to start airing in the middle of last fall season and it unfortunately fell by the wayside.  I have heard nothing but good things about the first season and it is on my list to go back and watch at some point (after Breaking Bad Mike, I swear).

The one new show you should be watching is a very tricky question.  There are several really solid shows coming out this year.  So let's start with the one action-drama recommendation: Revolution.  This is a post-apocalyptic drama about the world 15 years after all power goes out, electricity, batteries, everything.  It has a solid cast, including the ever-amazing Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet from LOST).  The show is being run by Eric Kripke.  He created and show-ran Supernatural for the initial 5 year arc.  This was one of the most expertly crafted, multi-season arcs since Babylon 5.  I have high hopes for this show and I'm hoping that audiences will give it a chance to become what I'm sure is in that man's head.  It also has the backing of JJ Abrams (I'm not telling you what he's done, you should know) and Jon Favreau (director of the first two Iron Man movies).

Next, we've got the pure action recommendation: Arrow.  This show is a superhero actioner about a rich playboy who goes through an event and comes out a vigilante.  Sound familiar?  Green Arrow was originally built with marked similarities to Batman.  The show has some solid cast members and has teased several introductions to other DC characters including who I'm assuming will turn out to be the Big Bad.  Critics have spoken surprisingly high of it, saying it feels like a Bourne movie, in the good ways, not the shaky-cam make you vomit kind of way.  If action of superheroes is your cup of tea, I think Arrow will be very satisfying.

Finally, a slightly more soapy option is going to be Nashville.  It's a slightly behind the scenes look at a rising Taylor Swift-esque country star and the Reba McEntire-esque veteran that is trying to keep up with the changing tastes of country music.  The actors are solid and the early reviews are very positive, with special mention of Connie Britton and the music of the show.

So for tomorrow night, the season of premieres begins.  If you're interested in the new shows, Go On will be officially premiering.  This is the Matthew Perry show about a sports talk radio host in group therapy after his wife passes away.  The preview was solid and I'm looking forward to seeing where they will take it.  The second new premiere is The New Normal about a gay couple and their story of hiring a surrogate.

In closing, I'll hopefully see you all tomorrow night.  Have a good one and Happy TV Watching!

  1. Revolution looks truly terrible. The only thing in its plus column is Giancarlo Esposito - someone you would be familiar with if you watched breaking bad.

I don't think there's a single new show i'm excited about this season, which is pretty depressing.

  2. When I played football (TAPPS is the best) the jockstrap they gave us was called "The Duke." And with his recent change in professions, i think Jockstrap would be appropriate for Kevin.

Also thanks for the suggestions Zayne, even Revolution. If it sucks, I will never read your blog again and trust my T.V. watching to "unknown."

  3. Haha, well I was speaking more of a nickname for readers of the blog as a whole, I will take it under advisement. Considering how I demolished Kevin in Fantasy Football this week, I believe I could single him out as Jockstrap for fun.

    Also, Unknown is Mike H.

    In related news, TAPPS Rules!
